The specimen was recovered from gravel pit sediments, where it was surrounded and polished by flowing water over millennia, taking on a rounded, river-smoothed appearance. Geological value of this Polish specimen from the Bóbr River Valley
The Kraszowice region and the Bóbr Valley are known among prospectors and geologists for their beautiful varieties of silicified wood. The silicification process involved the gradual replacement of the wood’s organic molecules with silica (primarily quartz and chalcedony), while preserving the original cellular structures, annual growth rings, and the contours of the bark. Due to its exposure to the aquatic environment of the gravel pit, the outer surface of the stone has a naturally rounded, smooth texture formed by the action of the river current.
