Geological evaluation of specimens from the Bóbr Valley
Agates from Lower Silesian gravel pits are naturally formed agate nodules that, over thousands of years, have been washed out of their parent rock and carried by river waters. Thanks to this process, the outer layer of the rock has been naturally polished away, revealing a durable quartz structure. The mirror-like polish of the surface reveals characteristic chalcedony banding, zonal patterns, and subtle tonal transitions. This is an excellent example of the microstructure of crystallized silica from regional deposits.
Collectible Value
The specimen’s massive base and thickness make this half an exceptionally stable display piece that looks superb on shelves, in display cases, or on special stands. Due to its precisely documented Polish provenance, this specimen is an exceptionally attractive addition for collectors of domestic minerals as well as researchers of the geology of the Sudetes and their foreland.
