Agate from Indonesia (Sumatra), 71 mm – River Pebble – Polished

AgatyWyprawy.pl

An exotic, natural agate originating from the tropical river deposits of Sumatra in Indonesia. Over hundreds of thousands of years, this specimen underwent natural shaping in the currents of mountain rivers, taking the form of a smooth river pebble, which has been cut and polished on one side to a high gloss, revealing a crystalline interior, contrasting chalcedony bands, and rich colors. The outer shell has retained its original, rough texture, weathered by water. This is a unique, Far Eastern geological treasure for any mineral enthusiast. This listing is for the specific specimen shown in the photos.

Exotic River Agate from Sumatra – Polished Half (Indonesia)

This specimen is a natural river agate from Sumatra—one of Indonesia’s most geologically diverse islands. Local agates formed in volcanic rocks under tropical conditions and were later dislodged from their host rock and carried away by rushing mountain rivers. The process of natural water erosion gave the agate the rounded shape of a river pebble. The front surface has been polished to a mirror-like shine, revealing the precise banding of chalcedony and a unique, deep color palette.

A witness to tropical geological processes

Sumatra is famous for its minerals with extraordinary coloration, which it owes to volcanic rocks rich in iron and other trace elements. River agates from this region are highly prized for their hardness and the smoothness of their rough outer skin, naturally formed by river currents. The contrast between the matte, natural outer surface and the perfectly polished, crystalline interior makes this specimen look exceptionally striking on a collector’s shelf or in a display case.
