Agouim – Among the most beautiful Moroccan agates
Agates from the Agouim region in Morocco’s High Atlas Mountains are among the most sought-after by European and international collectors. Their defining feature is an exceptionally dense, microcrystalline chalcedony structure, which allows for a perfect, almost glass-like polish. The interiors of these agates are characterized by very sharp, dense, and regular banding. The color palette of specimens from this site is truly stunning—ranging from classic grays, blues, and milky white, all the way to deep reds, browns, and rich burgundy hues, often featuring tiny quartz crystals clustered at the center of the geode.
Perfect polish and the contrast of raw nature
This particular specimen represents the ideal contrast prized in aesthetic mineralogy. The front, perfectly flat cut surface has been polished to bring out the maximum depth of color and sharpness of the agate bands.
